Tools used for Searching on The Web
I have chosen to identify the concept of  “Tools Used For Searching  On The Web.”  The information was found in chapter two of the textbook  titled “Integrating Technology In a Connected World.” According to (Shell, Gunter, & Gunter, 2012), searching for information can be a challenge due to the large amount of resource material available on the “Web.” Moreover, many search engines provide the search tools to accomplish the task of gathering research information.  A search engine is a device used to perform searches to find Web sites with a key word search. Many search engines use multiple word searches; other uses singled one-word  searches.
The acronym HTML tags creative, stylish, and beautiful web pages that are viewed during a search. The process consistence of gathering facts from databases and then indexing documents and internet sites. Subject directory is another type of tool that allows a user to search areas that may be of interest to the person conducting the research. Other tools are included in the research method.
Web browser software is another application used to access the Web pages. A web browser translates what is described as a source document into a beautiful web page  each time one log on to the internet. Many features are included. However, other applications are used with a Web browser.
Mosaic is another important and well know industrious software used to create interface graphics, such as picture quality and allows pleasurable viewing for web observation.  Graphical images or graphics are a representation of digital or non-text information used that is created by software. Many images and designs are used with lots of colors that are developed with the use of graphic for internet use. Sound is also a will desire application tool found used on an internet search.
When using the Web, one can download files and often hear a live audio, such as talk hosts, music, speeches, or individual sound that is available to the listener. There are many audio forms that are used on the Web. One of the most popular one is quick time. Other are RealAudio, WAV, (Window Media Audio) MP3, and WMA. These files must be reduced so that they can fit and be played to that they sound like the original. The big benefit is that users can download music legally that may have copyright contracts. The advancement of a digital mediums has advanced and is being used daily by educators to teach in many different forms.
According to  (Shelly, Ganesh, & Jennings 1999), electronic media, began a rapid change in the role of providing libraries with archives of paper with electronic print. Electronic journals and digital libraries are allowing students throughout the world to conduct research via the internet. Students are able to use reliable scholarly journal and digital libraries for the benefit of a keystroke. With today’s technology, the internet has made e-journals accessible to students,  so they can use scholarly text daily. E-journals has allowed electronic power and open medium to allow endless possibilities to learning for anyone. A school made of bricks may be something of the past with the multidimensional world filled with rich visual experiences. One can access his or her library from his desktop. With digital capabilities, students may seek scholarly articles for years to come.
One other thing that I learned is that the use of networking, communicating, and the advancement of the internet is taking learning to and whole new level.  I feel that someday, all students in throughout the world will attend school in front of their desk tops, and the teacher may be conducting class in Russia, Africa, or China. One thing for sure, the tools used for Web searches will only get better. The digital age is here, and it is improving daily.

  1. James, I just wanted to add to your wonderful post. I also believe that one day all students will attend school in front of their desk tops. But before that, I believe that textbooks will be a thing of the past as students will be able to pick up their I-pads and read them while at home or even while at school in class. Think about the money saved if instead of new text books each year, the students simply download the text onto their tablets! With so many great applications available, their tablets are their own organizers. I currently use an I-Pad with my bilingual students and the applications have really enhanced my teaching and my students' learning.

I also believe that learning will become a world event in that students from various countries will be in class as one teacher on the other end and in ANOTHER country gives the lesson. This is already happening as many immigrant students in the United States are going to class in a Virtual School sponsored by two very prestigious universities in Mexico. They go onto the website and can see an aerial view of the university and they simply click into the building they are supposed to be in class at a designated time. Mexico realized the importance of providing degrees to their citizens abroad. this gives them an opportunity of a lifetime. the trick is getting admitted!!

Technology sure has come a long way. You are correct in that the digital age is here. I have experienced it first-hand, ready or not!!
